I'm officially on maternity leave!

It has been very quiet here on the blog for the past couple of months as I've been trying to finish up sessions and get ready for our new baby! I'll be on maternity leave from now until April 2012. I'll be booking newborn and family sessions again in the spring 2012. We are expecting our baby girl in mid-October, so I'm sure I'll be back with lots of photos of her in the meantime!

Unfortunately I won't be doing any fall mini sessions or designing custom holiday cards this year. If you'd like to use your 2011 photos on a holiday card, please contact me, I'd be happy to upload your photos to tinyprints.com so you can design your own cards.

If you need a photographer this fall, please contact me, I'd be happy to recommend another great local photographer.

This little angel is one! - New Jersey Baby Photography

I can't believe it's been almost a year since this little angel had her newborn session (newborn blog post HERE) Her mom wanted one year photos done, but since her birthday is right around my due date, we had to schedule it about a month before her actual birthday. She has changed so much and has developed quite the cute little personality! I just love watching these little ones grow up!

Their oldest, Mr. D is just learning how to climb a tree (named Bob :)), and he really loves getting up high in the branches. His little brother Mr. A loves hanging out on the lower limbs, but I have a feeling he'll be climbing up into the tree in no time. I got to meet up with this adorable family at the park over the weekend. Mom warned me that her middle child would likely not cooperate with having his photo taken. I had the pleasure of meeting little Mr. C and Mr. B last week. At just 15 months, Mr. C is the big brother of adorable little 2 month old Mr. B. Both boys were so very sweet, but Mr. C won my heart when he took my hand as I entered his house and led me into his play area. He adores his baby brother and is just learning the word "baby." I'm sure they will grow up to be the best of friends.

Spring Mini's Day 2 - NJ Family Photographer

Though I only got to do half of the scheduled sessions on the second day of minis because of the weather, it was great to see the families that ventured out under the dark clouds. Rain was threatening the entire morning, but that didn't stop our fun!

First up was the C family, they are always so much fun! I just adore little Ms. C and Mr. H.

Next came the T family of 5, with three girls and another baby on the way. The girls were so sweet!

And the final mini of the day, these two sweet boys, Mr. L and Mr. T. They have so much energy, we had a great time exploring the park!

Thank you to the families that joined me on such a yucky weather day, I'm glad we stayed dry!

Spring Mini's - Day One - NJ Child Photography

We had such a beautiful day on Sunday for the first day of spring mini sessions. It was great to see old friends and to meet some new ones. Here's a sneak peek at some of the adorable kids who joined me for a day at the park...

First up was Ms. K. She declared at the beginning of the session that she was not going to have her picture taken... but she came around and we had lots of fun running through the grass and picking flowers.

Then came Mr. T, Ms. A and Ms. W. They had a great time rolling down the hill and laughing at boogers :)

Then there was adorable little Ms. A. She just turned one year old and was just as sweet and cute as can be.

And the final session of the day was the B family. Sisters Ms. Q and Ms. H weren't too sure about the photo shoot until we got to blow some dandelion fluff and clean up some rocks. Then there was no stopping their adorable little smiles.

Meet brand new Baby C! He was one of the sleepiest little guys I've ever photographed. Happy Birthday to me, Happy Birthday to me... I can't believe it was one year ago today that I did my very first photo session, with someone other than my son :) I posted the photos from that very first session HERE, and even though I've grown a lot as a photographer, I still really love those photos! Maybe in part because they are photos of our good friends, and the kids are so cute! but also just remembering how new and exciting it all was that someone actually wanted me to photograph their kids. We had such a great time!

Since then, I have met so many wonderful families. and I got to play with so many incredibly cute kids and cuddle so many squishy new babies, it has been so great! I feel so blessed to have found a career that I truly LOVE! I appreciate each and every family that has invited me into their lives to help document the way they are as a family and to capture the love they have for each other. Now I'd like to give back a little love... in the form of a giveaway and a contest!

My absolute favorite thing to photograph is newborns, I love how squishy soft and new they are. And I love that I can help document such an amazing time for a family. The addition of a new baby changes everything! I never had newborn photos taken of my son, I just had no idea that you had to do them so young, and before I knew it, he was a real baby! :) The first few weeks are such a blur, it's so wonderful to have photos of this brief, amazing, sleep deprived time.

Here's one little angel that I photographed as a newborn, sneak peek HERE. And now she's all grown up into a big 8 month old baby! Isn't she just adorable!

I got the chance to photograph lots of newborns in my first year in business. Thank you to all of the families who invited me to their homes to meet their new little ones! It's been a little quiet on the blog recently, I've been taking some time off to work on some personal projects, and I've been enjoying WAY too many snow days with my little guy. But I've got big things in store for 2011, starting with this first post, it's my first commercial photography shoot! I was contacted by the owner of The Sewing Loft to photograph her adorable new line of felt foods, aprons, and dolls. We decided to make the photo shoot into a tea party and photograph a few super cute little girls enjoying her products. Well, the girls loved her items as much as I knew they would. Meet little Ms. A. She was my last session of 2010, and it was such a fun one! She was very curious about all the goodies in my bag, especially the collapsible reflector. She also got really attached to my pig and wolf puppets, maybe Santa will bring her some :). We got to spend the beginning of the session inside, then fortunately it was warm enough to spend the second half of the session outdoors where we got to play with her dog and feel how cold the snow on the ground was. Meet brand new baby M. She was one of the most alert babies I have met, and one of the lightest sleepers too. She really made us work for these. In the end we had to drape blankets over mom (I usually drape them over a bean bag), so mom acted as my prop and rocked and soothed baby M whenever she started to stir. I am finally getting around to blogging some photos from our trip to California. This is my beautiful little niece Samantha. She is quite a little firecracker. Her nickname at home is "Samitude" because of the fierce little attitude she's had since she was a baby. Sammy is two years old now, and is really coming into her own. She still has a strong independent side, but she is wonderfully spirited, always curious, and has an infectious little laugh. Oh, and she can do a somersault! Isn't she just the cutest little thing!

Fall mini sessions are official! I'll only be offering these once in the fall and once in the spring, and the fall sessions are right around the corner. Here are the details:

What: 30 minute photo sessions with 5-8 proofs to choose from, perfect for halloween costume photos or family holiday cards

When: Saturdays, October 23 and October 30, 5 time slots per day

Where: a park local to Clinton, NJ, based on where the best leaf color is each weekend and weather permitting

Cost: session fee of $35, which covers the session and presentation of 5-8 images in an online gallery. In addition to a la carte pricing, the following special mini-session-only packages will be available for your print/card purchases:
1) 25 custom designed, press printed holiday cards $50
2) 3 gift prints (8x10 or smaller) $100
3) 3 gift prints and 25 custom designed, press printed holiday cards $130
4) 1 11x14 print, 3 gift prints and 25 custom designed, press printed holiday cards $200
Additional cards can be ordered at $30 per 25 with the purchase of any package.

Yesterday, I had the pleasure of playing at the park with this beautiful family of 6. Four boys (yes 4!) ages 4-10, I was nervous about keeping them under control for the shoot, but they were so incredibly well behaved, it was a joy photographing them! and aren't they just adorable!

Their mom, Mary Ann, runs a newsletter and website called Macaroni Kid detailing all the cool things to do in Hunterdon County. Here's her LINK. It's a great resource for local moms looking for things to do with kids, and she always has lots of cool stuff to give away!

Meet baby M and her big sister, Ms. B. Baby M is 4 weeks old, and I had heard that was a very difficult age to photograph, that they rarely sleep and get overstimulated and overtired by the end of the session. Well, baby M could not have been more of an angel. She was actually one of the most relaxed newborns I've photographed. She let me pose her and move her, and she would just fall back asleep. She was even pretty relaxed when awake. And her big sister is such a sweetie and so adorable, check out her curls! She was born just a week after my son, and I'm already planning their wedding :) As I was leaving, sweet little Ms. B said "I love you!" and I love you too sweetie!

Mr. Z and Ms. M are back! - Child Photographer New Jersey

You may recognize these two, they were the subjects of my second photo session ever, back in March. During that first session, we had to stay indoors because it was too cold outside, and the kids got to play in the formal room, where they managed to pull everything out of drawers, spread the decorations everywhere, and even rip a curtain. Well this time, we got to play outside, and daddy got to join us. All was going well, until poor little Ms. M got too close to a bee's nest. The bumble bee got really mad and chased all of us around, eventually biting both dad and little Ms. M (her second bite within a week). She's a tough little girl though, and was ready for more photos within minutes. And she never even dropped her ultra cute pink purse :) I just love a girly girl!

I'm so behind in editing personal photos, I just came across this photo of my son and hubby from father's day. We went to the zoo on what was probably the hottest day of the year so far. We had to take lots of breaks from the sun and heat, but we had a great time! I'm so excited to now offer gift certificates! In fact, I sold my first one last week to a client (Ms. A) who wanted to buy a session for her sister who is expecting her first child in October. Ms. A was so sweet, she said what a great sister she has and how she really deserves this wonderful gift. The best part is that it's all set up well before baby's arrival, and the new mom doesn't have to worry about anything. I know it's a gift I would have LOVED to get. I remember before my son was born, I thought I'd have plenty of time to get a photo session set up after he was born, but those first couple weeks are so hectic, I never got to it until he was long past the squishy newborn phase. Maybe that's part of why I love doing newborn sessions so much, I always wish I had newborn photos of my son, and I'm so thrilled to offer them to new parents. Spirited Girl - Central New Jersey Photographer

When 3 year old Ms. C's mom called to book their family session, she warned me that her daughter was "spirited." Well, since I consider my son to be spirited too, I felt prepared for her activity level. I don't think she stopped for more than 30 seconds during the two hours we spent at the park. I got a great work out, just trying to keep up with her! I just love how her adorable, spirited personality shines through in these photos.

Here's a sneak peek for the C family. I met up with them yesterday at the park, and we all got some good exercise. Three year old Ms. C ran and ran without looking back, while one year old Mr. H practiced his walking. We did lots of walking, running, and threw lots of rocks into the lake. I'll be back with more of this family soon, enjoy the preview!

I must say that for a family of five, with three little boys, all under 4 years old, this session was a breeze! These little guys were so cooperative and we had a great time!

Meet little baby J. She made her debut here on the blog about a week ago, and now I'm back with more. I had a hard time narrowing it down, she's so adorable. Both mom and dad have brown hair and brown eyes, but both baby J and her big sister Ms. L have blond hair and light blue eyes. This is the third photo session Ms. L has been in, and by now she's an old pro. She was great at holding her baby sister and just absolutely adores her. Congratulations to the M family, it was great to meet your littlest one!

Check out who I got to play with this morning! Three of the sweetest little boys around, 4 year old Mr. D, 2 year old Mr. A, and 6 month old Mr. M. They showed me around their beautiful big back yard, and we got to splash in the little brook that runs along the edge of it. What a great way to spend the morning!

Here are a few more from my trip to Deer Path Park with Mr. and Mrs. D and their two boys. I can't wait to meet baby #3 in a couple months!

I'm going to have to break this session into two blog posts, I just can't pick a favorite set! These kids were too cute, so cooperative, so smiley, so fun, and it was such a beautiful day at Hoffman Park. We took a walk, threw lots of rocks in the lake, and found a cool bridge across a tiny stream (with more rock throwing). Ms. A was so very sweet and just loved the rock throwing, Mr. O flashed me lots of million dollar smiles, and they both have the most amazing sparkly eyes. Backyard boys- Family Photography in Central New Jersey

Meet the D family. I had such a great time photographing them! We started with an outdoor session in their backyard. The kids got to go crazy, Mr. C did all the usual 3 year old activities, running, climbing, hide-and-seeking, while Mr. T did the usual 9 month old things, eating grass, smiling and drooling. Mom and dad even got into it, which was fun! Then we moved into the playroom where the boys showed me all their favorite things, including trains and swords. What a lovely way to spend a day!

A couple weeks ago, I discovered this beautiful park with the lovely Mrs. N and her ultra cute little guy Mr. C. Mrs. N is expecting her second child in just a few weeks. Her hubby doesn't want to know the sex of the baby, but she just had to know, so she's trying to keep it a secret. This is exactly what we did with my son. My hubby wanted to be surprised, but I could not stand the anticipation and found out as soon as possible. Luckily my hubby tried to ignore any possible hints, and he was not allowed in the nursery. Hope you can keep your secret for a few more weeks! Can't wait to meet the new little one!

Sweet little baby K is two weeks new. You may recognize her big brother, Mr. N from a previous post of his mommy's maternity photo session (link here). He is such a wonderful big brother, so very gentle and loving to his new baby sister. And his new sister was such a little angel, she just slept and slept. We even got to look through some of Mr. N's newborn photos, and you can definitely tell they are siblings. Both completely adorable!

Some days everything just comes together perfectly. I met the R family in the little town of Califon. It's such a cute little town with a nice playground, a river and lots of neat buildings. We had beautiful light, a beautiful sky and two adorable little boys. I just love the way their eyes sparkle.

Beautiful mama C is expecting her second child in July, and she and her oh so cute 3 year old son met up with me at Duke Island Park a couple weeks ago. It was a beautiful day to stroll around the park, throw stones and sticks into the water, pick flowers, and watch the front loaders moving dirt around. All very cool things to do, especially when you're three years old!

I have been looking forward to working on these photos all week! Baby E is just pure sweetness. She slept and slept, and even offered a few smiles. She is the new baby of my petsitter, Angela. Angela has been a life saver when we travel. She comes and checks on my kitties, gives them food and lots of love while we're gone. It's so nice to have someone to trust taking care of them. Here's a LINK for her petsitting business, I highly recommend her if you live in Hunterdon County, NJ and have pets. And isn't her daughter just the sweetest thing!

Last weekend, I got to play at the park with these two very cute little guys and their ultra fun parents. The skies were threatening, but luckily the rain held off until we were just finishing up. The boys had a great time chasing each other around, as little brother, Mr. A is just learning to walk. Big brother Mr. R is super sweet and gentle to his little brother, and just wanted to smother him with hugs and love.

Last week, I got to play with Mr. L and Mr. S at the lake. They are brothers, and it was so cute to see them interact. Mr. S wanted to do everything big brother Mr. L did. It was a very cold day, but that didn't keep these boys from splashing in the lake and getting soaked. They had a great time, but were ready to get into dry clothes when we were done.

Meet Ms. L. I had been looking forward to this session for weeks. Ms. L is just the cutest and sweetest girl, and I knew the images would be amazing. She showed me all of the wonderful things in her room, we danced to the Beetles, then we went for a short walk on a lovely winter day.
